Auction Fees
Three figures, no small print. Here's exactly what it costs to buy and sell with us — and how the room works on the day.
Our fees
We believe in clear and competitive auction fees, and those three figures are the whole story. If you’re selling, our commission is 20% of the hammer price, plus a £3 fee per lot — the lot fee applies whether the lot sells or not. For everything else a seller needs, from the full schedule of charges to what happens after the hammer falls, see our selling guide.
If you’re buying, a buyer’s premium of 17% is added to the hammer price. It’s a flat rate on every lot, whichever way you pay. For payment deadlines, methods and collection, see the buying guide.
VAT
We do not charge VAT on our fees. The rates above are exactly what you pay.
Working out your bid? Remember the buyer’s premium is added to the hammer price — a winning bid of £100 comes to £117 on the invoice.
On auction day
Viewing runs for the full 7 days before every sale, 9am to 4pm — and there is seating and standing room on the day itself. Seats can be reserved for customers who have placed at least one left bid; the remaining seating and standing room is first-come, first-served due to our capacity, with priority seating for buyers. It’s advised to leave bids in advance so you’re not disappointed if we are at full capacity.
Telephone bidding is available on selected lots — see the buying guide for how to book a line. For parking, see getting here.
Stay up to date
Rates and sale news are posted as they happen. Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram for more updates, or get in touch if anything here needs explaining — we’d rather you asked before the hammer falls.
